When it\u2019s time for a new refrigerator, washing machine, microwave or air conditioner, look for products with the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.energystar.gov\/products\" target=\"_blank\">Energy Star<\/a> label \u2014 all of which have a high level of energy efficiency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Stop wasting water.&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Look for ways you can prevent water waste around your home. Do you leave the water running while brushing your teeth? Turn it off! According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/watersense\/statistics-and-facts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"EPA (opens in a new tab)\">EPA<\/a>, doing this can save 8 gallons of water per day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notice a small drip from your faucet? Get it fixed! Leaks, regardless of how small, can result in a huge source of water waste in the home (9,400 gallons of water annually, to be exact).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Cool your home wisely.&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The summer season is just around the corner! How will you stay cool? For starters, if you have an air conditioner, you\u2019ll want to keep the cool air <em>inside<\/em> your home, right? Now is the time to make sure all windows, doors and your attic are properly insulated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may also want to install a programmable thermostat if you haven\u2019t already.
